Senior Ecommerce Project Manager



Born London Limited (Born) is looking for a Senior Ecommerce Project Manager to join its award-winning team, reporting into Director of Ecommerce Projects. The purpose of the role is to manage multiple complex projects from scoping through to delivery, ensuring that products are beautifully and strategically merchandised, as per client briefs.


Primarily based in our London head office, you will be working on a variety of different projects and will liaise closely with the client, whilst overseeing a geographically dispersed team of information architects, designers, developers and testers. As the primary point of contact you will manage customer expectations and communications, to ensure that all stakeholders are informed on the project status, with approval and sign off obtained for all major deliverables. This role will suit someone who is flexible, dynamic and experienced in stakeholder management.






  • Maintain clear lines of communication between client and internal stakeholders including product, design, IT, project management and test teams
  • Overseeing B2B and B2C platform product launches, encompassing:
    • Identifying project requirements
    • Information gathering workshops
    • Scoping
    • Creation and execution of Project Plans
    • Management of potential project slippage, or project revisions
  • Support the pre-sales team and produce documentation, including:
    • Requests for Proposals
    • Project Statement of Works
    • Other contractual documents
  • Resource Management, including:
    • Understanding and anticipating project and resource volumes and dependencies
    • Resolving and escalating issues or conflicts, as appropriate
  • Risk Mitigation, including:
    • Identification, communication and recommendations to mitigate risks
    • Change Management
  • Coordinating with technical design teams to ensure that process streams completed and documentation in line with the development and release management plans
  • Accurately reporting of project metrics, including
    • Budget adherence
    • Resource allocation and utilisation
    • Overall performance
  • Conducting analysis to gain insights and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Proactively drawing attention to insights and opportunities
  • Ownership of all project documentation, including working closely with UX designers, technical leads and creative teams to monitor and ensure all project documentation produced, regularly reviewed, approved and distributed in a timely manner
  • Accountability for the Quality Assurance
  • Effectiveness of project management materials in all aspects of the project, such as
    • Status reporting
    • Project planning
    • Meeting minutes
    • All other associated project documentation
  • All stage gate entry criteria are met to enable entry into internal test cycles and client UAT
  • Review of deliverables, prepared by the team, before presenting to client
  • Management of internal testing, including system testing and integration testing
  • Final project deliverables
    • Manage the project team, including:
    • Assigning individual project tasks
    • Organising and chairing regular meetings to monitor and report progress
    • Ensuring all timesheets are completed accurately and on time
  • Coordination of input from all project members to ensure successful delivery, including:
    • Third party suppliers
    • Customer stakeholders
  • Ensures documents and major digital assets are complete, current and stored appropriately
  • Control of all final assets, through product delivery to final archiving






  • Ability to demonstrate sound understanding of the Ecommerce landscape through to delivery of large and complex projects encompassing strategy, user experience, design, build, test and deployment
  • In depth knowledge of Magento, or similar B2B or B2C Ecommerce platforms
  • Exceptional listening, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record in project management, with a minimum of 3 years filed experience, either within an agency, systems integration consultancy, or within an online/digital department of an established retailer
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Agile, Scrum and Waterfall project management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Extensive experience of resource management, including managing geographically dispersed multi-disciplined teams
  • Proven track record of working within dynamic, fast paced environments with ability to react quickly according to business changes
  • Financial planning, control and reporting efficiently and effectively to defined budgets
  • Proven track record of meticulous communications between senior key stakeholders and project sponsors
  • Ability to demonstrate sound understanding of process control, improvement and quality assurance programs, such as ISO 9001, Lean or Six Sigma
  • Ideally educated to bachelor degree level, within a relevant degree subject matter, or of graduate calibre
