Brief

Just Right came to BORN to embark upon a completely new experience for users, which required branding, highly-personalized elements, and eCommerce execution via Magento.

Goals

Just Right sought to create a new direct-to-consumer eCommerce solution, expanding their dog food portfolio into a new unsaturated market for personalized pet food.

Challenge

One of the unique challenges that emerged when building the site was cultivating new branding guidelines under tight time constraints. By collaborating with the Just Right team, BORN worked hand-in-hand to carefully iterate branding gaps for the site and create a new user experience.

Just Right’s personalized journey begins with the ‘create a blend’ capability which allows users to fulfill 81 custom algorithms spanning dog size, age, weight, body condition, activity level, skin type and more, to generate the ideal blend for your pet.

Cultivating Individual Relationships

The ‘create a blend’ functionality allows users to upload a photo of their pet and view a real-time rendering of how their bag will appear. In addition, the text below your pet will update to their name.

Focused Variables

Following detailed questions and the image upload, users have the opportunity to review their details and revisit any fields they’d like to alter. Finally, the user is led to the path of purchase giving them the opportunity to add to cart.

Headless Experience

The Just Right site is powered by a headless, or side-by-side experience that allows users to interact with the front end of the site and then complete their transaction through Magento. This strategy allows for flexibility, ease-of-use, and scalability for Just Right.

Challenge

To ensure the studios could benefit from this initiative, Merle Norman needed to provide monetary credit to a studio when a user made a purchase. The site had to recognize the user’s location when they made a purchase, then provide a percentage of the sales to the user’s nearest Merle Norman studio.

An Arctic Fox Integration

Since Merle Norman had to adhere to a short timeline, we utilized our Salesforce Arctic Fox accelerator to ensure the build was fast and efficient. Arctic Fox provided Merle Norman the flexibility to easily change the visual look of the site as needed, with little effort.

Results

The new site, complete with updated typography, iconography and imagery allowed users to browse through hundreds of products seamlessly across all devices. It also helped to increase brand awareness for Merle Norman, as users who previously did not live by a studio could finally purchase the products they offer.

The majority of client data was stored on backend systems, requiring multiple middle-ware APIs to provide relevant data to the commerce platform. Each country had a unique set of stakeholders: integrations teams, business units, backend teams, marketing teams, and PMOs.

Challenge

To ensure the studios could benefit from this initiative, Merle Norman needed to provide monetary credit to a studio when a user made a purchase. The site had to recognize the user’s location when they made a purchase, then provide a percentage of the sales to the user’s nearest Merle Norman studio.

TABASCO® brand products are made by McIlhenny Company, founded by Edmund McIlhenny in 1868 on Avery Island, Louisiana. The recipe for TABASCO® Original Red Pepper Sauce has since been passed down for generations and has become an iconic food staple.

Brief

Tabasco was seeking a build with Magento 2 software to streamline order information and communicate more effectively with its Oracle software. The brand also sought to expand brand awareness and reach new customers.

Goals

Drive users to a fresh storefront where they can explore the entire product catalog, all while learning new ways to use their favorite hot sauce. Create a flexible and modern eCommerce solution that is easy to maintain.

Challenge

While Tabasco has become a shelf staple in pantries, most consumers grab a bottle from their local grocer without realizing they can explore the creative sauces, unique gifts, and branded Tabasco gear on its online store.

Building Foundations

Sleek and simple modules allow for easy mixing and matching to create custom templates.

Spicing Things Up

Filtering and sorting products can make wayfinding easier for users. Breaking down a nuanced product offering by Scoville units, bottle sizes, and sauces allows users to explore and refine to meet their needs.

Creating the Experience

BORN relied on best practices, user research, and visual design to create a solid eCommerce experience that will — much like Tabasco — stand the test of time.

The Results

Our focus was two-fold. We re-platformed Tabasco and set up a modular design system based on minimal templates. We then created an experience that allowed users to purchase Tabasco goods directly from the source, cutting out the middle man and maximizing ROI.
